Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita will both be missing for Saturday’s trip to Arsenal.
Sitting joint top of the Premier League at present with Man City after going unbeaten in the league, the Reds will be aiming to take top spot with Pep Guardiola’s side in action on Sunday.
However, they will have to do it without two of their key players for the visit to the capital.
Absent from Liverpool’s previous two games against Red Star Belgrade and Cardiff City due to hamstring injuries, the pair were forced to train on their own during the week as they stepped up their recovery from injury.
Speaking to the media at the club’s training ground on Friday morning, Klopp confirmed that both players would be missing once again for the game against the Gunners.
Although it is a blow for the Reds, the German did confirm that Mohamed Salah is fit enough to feature amid injury doubts during the week.
Pictured wearing a wrist splint during training at Melwood on Wednesday afternoon, it left many Liverpool fans sweating over the Egyptian’s fitness ahead of Saturday’s game.
“Hendo is really good but will start training at start of next week,” Klopp said at his press conference, as reported by the Liverpool Echo . “Mo is nothing serious.”
He added: “In football, a not too serious injury means two, three, four weeks (out) and in the Premier League that means 20 games if we are lucky!
“We didn’t have to rush it.”
